Overview
These simulators demonstrate some of the main effects of common vision and hearing impairments on image and sound files. They give an indication of how such files might be perceived with these conditions, at varying levels of severity. Their purpose is to help people to better empathise with those who have reduced capability, and to help understand how capability loss affects the ability to interact with products, services and everyday life.
Some of the effects of vision and hearing conditions are difficult to simulate accurately, or even at all. For example, a simulation cannot convey what it is really like to live with capability loss on an everyday basis. These simulators supplement other evaluation tools, and should not be solely relied upon to draw conclusions about capability loss and its effects on product use.
The vision impairment simulator now allows you to upload your own image.
