Introduction

Having identified the requirements that need to be addressed, the next phase of work requires tools and techniques to stimulate a creative process, structure the approach, and then filter and rank the potentially large number of ideas that have been generated.

Team selection is an important part of any project, but particularly in the creative phase where a diverse range of contributors can rapidly deliver a broad range of potential ideas to address a problem.

Ideally the team will be multi-disciplinary, so will include R & D, marketing, manufacturing and so on. This brings a combination of multiple perspectives as well as buy-in from the wider organisation. The key challenge is ensuring that this diverse team can work together in a constructive manner, which may be achieved by selecting key individuals, obtaining senior sponsorship and using effective facilitators in creative sessions.
